I was born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico and am the first person in my family to pursue a Ph.D.
For my undergraduate studies, I pursued a B.A. with a double major in Foreign Languages (French, Mandarin, Japanese) and Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras (UPRRP)
At UPRRP, I worked with psycholinguist Dr. Rosa E. Guzzardo Tamargo and sociolinguist Dr. Luis Ortiz López.
Before being passionate about Language Science and Linguistics, I was a Chemistry major for a year and a half.
